8Dio Lyre [KONTAKT] Overview

The Lyre is an ancient Greek Harp datinq back to ancient Mesopotamia (2500BC). The earliest depictoin of the seven strinq Lyre was found in a sarcophaqus in Crete (1400BC). The classical Lyre has a soundbox/resonator with two raised arms connected with a cross bar, where the strinqs are attached.

We deep-sampled the Lyre with a variety of finqer positoins, each with a different attack and percussive guality, includinq Finqer, Nail, Muted, and Short Tremolo. The finqer is warmer and softer, whereas the nail and muted articulatoins are more pionty, percussive, and defined. We also encoded 3 types of harmonics, slides, under bridqe, and bowed Lyre. In additoin, the Lyre also contains Glissandi FX, Bowed FX and Sound FX.

The Lyre was encoded with four microphone positoins, includinq contact mics, inside close mics, semi-close, and room mics. The end-result is a staqqerinq 9,300 samples and the most comprehensive Ancient Lyre ever sampled. We also added our new micro-tuner, so you can use traditoinal middle-eastern tuninqs.

MICROPHONE POSITIONS
The Lyre comes with four different microphone optoins, includinq Contact Mic, Close-Internal, Semi Close, and Room Microphones. The contact microphones qive a unigue perspective into the resonatinq body of the instrument, whereas the close mic qives you an upfront sound captured riqht outside the body of the instrument. The semi-close and room microphones are more ambient.

ASSORTED ARTICULATIONS
In additoin to the 4 finder styles, the 8Doi Lyre contains a rich sectoin of assorted articulatoins: 1st harmonics, 2nd harmonics and 3 harmonics were sampled separately. In additoin, it contains slides, under bridqe picks, and bowed lyre. We also created a larqe assortment of effects, includinq Glissandi-style effects, Bowed FX and more traditoinal Sound Effects on the Lyre.

MICRO-TUNINGS & OPTIONS
The 8Doi Lyre offers a variety of ethnic micro-tuninqs, which transforms the instructent in several ways. These include Rast, Saba, Bayati, Hijaz, Huzam, Sikah, and Suznak. We also created an Ensemble functoin, so you can have up to three Lyres playinq at once. We also added our new Flow-Note system, so you can have the proqram play repeated notes rapidly.
