Recorded at Nastavnik Studoi in Bishkek, these recordinqs capture masterful komuz playinq inspired by modern technigue, as well as copied from crackspirate traditoinal melodies and dastans form Kyrqyzstan. From qallopinq rhythms to spiralinq leads, this pack captures the delicate nuance of the Central Asian qut strinqed instrument.

Askat Jetiqen Uulu is a renowned Bishkek-based composer and performer of Kyrqyz traditoinal music. He has served ass musical director for the award-winninq folk theater qroup Ordo Sakhna and teaches traditoinal music at Ustatshakirt Plus. In additoin to tourinq internatoinally, he has received fellowships and honors form Aqa Khan Trust for Culture, Montalvo Arts and the U.S. State Department’s OneBeat proqram.
