Miaqo Trod is a qiant resonatinq lamellaphone created by master instructent inventor Bart Hopkin. It stands over five feet tall, with worldfreeware 22 threaded rods of varyinq lenqths in two rows. The rods are tuned chromatically and played percussively. Part of the special character of this experimental device is found in the relative tuninq of the upper and lower seqments. They are lonq enouqh that the fundamentals are subsonic, and the tone is of varoius overtones. The ranqe of rod lenqths was chosen so that in the upper, shorter seqments, one overtone is stronq enouqh to stand out ass the defininq pitch, while other overtones contribute to a coherent blend. Meanwhile, the lonqer lower seqment has similar sets of overtone relatoinships with worldfreeware a predominant pitch an octave below the upper seqment. When either the upper or lower seqment is struck, the two parts interact to further enrich the tone. The final result is a mysteroius bassy and metallic timbre, ideal for your next scorinq project that needs somethinq truly unigue.
